PTFE, better known as Teflon, is a plastic material with the lowest coefficient of friction and high resistance to temperatures up to 260°C. It is an ideal sealant for flanges with less uniform surfaces. To improve its properties, it is mixed with different reinforcing materials such as silica, barium sulphate or a PTFE core with soft microcell of expanded PTFE.
Modified PTFE Gaskets from Fraktalseals
Fraktalseals has an extensive inventory of modified PTFE gaskets. Our main supplier is Flexitallic. These gaskets are available in thicknesses ranging from 0.75 mm to 6.4 mm, with a pH range of 0 to 14 and a maximum pressure of up to 85 bar. In addition, they comply with Ta-Luft certifications and FDA standards, and can be purchased with WRAS and DVGW approvals.
Applications in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries
Modified PTFE gaskets offer exceptional resistance to most chemicals, including strong acids and alkalis. Due to this feature, they are widely used in sectors such as the chemical and petrochemical industry, the food and pharmaceutical industries, as well as in drinking water systems. Fraktalseals also offers modified PTFE sealants suitable for oxygen applications, complying with BAM standards.
Own production of modified PTFE gaskets
Fraktalseals has developed its own manufacturing facilities, which allows us to offer customized solutions for our customers. Thanks to our efficient processes, we can produce non-standard gaskets in a matter of hours, optimizing delivery times compared to traditional lead times.
Our cutting machinery is capable of processing a variety of materials, including:
- Fiber sheets
- Graphite sheets (with or without inlays)
- Rubber sheets with reinforcement
- Plastics such as modified PTFE
- Kemiculite® (exfoliated mica) sheets
- Cork and rubber sheets
